GFW 2014: Frances Baron's Embrace delicate lingerie collection

Hello beautiful

Last week I introduced you to the talented Lizzie Coates who I met at Graduate Fashion Week 2014. Her designs weren't the only ones that impressed me. In fact, right next to Lizzie's stand was another beautiful lingerie collection.

Frances Baron, a petite beauty full of energy and enthusiasm, created Embrace to inspire smaller breasted women to love their bodies. Born a triplet, Frances says, "small" has always been her trait. That doesn't seem to bother her at all. She excludes the confidence only a lady who completely accepts herself can have.

The lingerie itself is nothing less than stunning. The unstructured silhouettes adorned with delicate crochet detailing evoke images of ballet dancers, candle light and gentle caresses. Made of fine silk sating in subtle ivory tones the pieces are smoldering in the most elegant of ways. Embrace liberates women of uncomfortable synthetic fabrics, wires and excessive padding. It is soft, comfortable and effortless. It is the definition of allure.

Inspirational Quote: Follow your passions

Hello beautiful

Following your heart can be scary. It often involves taking risks, leaping with your eyes closed and hoping for the best. It involves fighting for your dreams, not just chasing them. Following your heart requires bravery, will and discipline, as well as hope, believe and confidence. It is not easy. In fact, it is hard most of the time. Trust me, I know.

What I also know is that every step you make on the way, every little effort that brings you closer to your dream is rewarding. The decision to follow your heart no matter what gives you a new sort of freedom. It breaks the shackles of society expectations and peer pressure and opens your eyes to a whole new world of possibilities. Following your heart lights the fire within you and makes you burn bright like the stars in the night sky.

Have a great week!

GFW 2014: Lizzie Coates' Foolish Affair luxury lingerie collection

Hello beautiful

Graduate Fashion Week is the place to discover young talented designers and see their work up-close. The event this year was a spectacular affair, the halls filled with imaginative well-crafted pieces. Among the hundreds of participants there were a few girls who really left an impression on me, not only with their beautiful designs, hard work and passion, but also with the the way they presented their ideas.

Today I want to introduce you to Miss Lizzie Coates, the talented lady behind Foolish Affair - a luxury lingerie brand aiming to change women's attitudes of shapewear and fulfill their desire for achieving the ideal hour-glass silhouette. Songbird 2014 is one of the most alluring, elegant and sensual lingerie collections I've seen.

Lizzie's romantic inspiration comes from the Roaring Twenties and the love story of The Great Gatsby. The sense of lavish opulence, typical of those times, is evoked through a soft, feminine color palette and the use of soft silks and delicate Chantilly lace combined with body shaping fabrics.

The collection and its presentation were clearly thought through and cohesive down to the very last detail - from the font used on the pieces to the designer's business cards. Even the diffused light and soft focus of the pictures in Lizzie's tasteful lookbook (which by the way she took and edited herself) coordinated perfectly with the concept of oozing vintage glamour.

Inspirational Quote: You've come a long way

Hello beautiful

This world is an exciting place to be - always moving, always changing, always new. Our lives have turned into a constant race against time, against fear, and even against ourselves. Do you constantly feel like you're running towards a goal that only moves further away? Do you sometimes feel that at the moment you achieve one goal you have to move on immediately chasing another? Do you feel like no matter what you do it is not enough?

I have to admit I am guilty of that. I constantly set higher and higher aims for myself and feel pressured to reach them straight away. At 24 I am already asking myself why haven't I already achieved my final goal? Why haven't I arrived at my destination yet? Truth is it might take me quite a while to get where I want to be in life. Truth is I have a long way to go. But it is also true that I've traveled quite far from where I started and that is success in it's own right.

Have a fabulous week!

Graduate Fashion Week 2014: The Cradle of Fashion

Hello beautiful

Exactly a week ago I went to one of the most important fashion events of the year - Graduate Fashion Week. It may as well be called the cradle of fashion as it is the final step young designers take to enter the industry. Held in the heart of Brick Lane the exhibition was an impressive affair. Pieces beautiful and creative, elaborate and sharp, crafted to perfection complemented and juxtaposed each other in an atmosphere of electric excitement.

A few girls stood out to me the most not only with their final work, but also with the concept behind their designs and the way they presented them. Stay tuned to find out more about them in the upcoming posts. In the mean time read my full article about GFW 2014 on Secret D'or and enjoy some random snaps I took at the exhibition.

Beauty Review: St. Kitts Herbery Summer Rose Range

Hello beautiful

Last week I promised that since I am in London again I'd be featuring more local brands and I am starting today. One of the companies I wanted to talk to you about is St. Kitts Herbery. Based in Cornwall, it was founded by Susan & Paul Johnson in 2001 with £2000, a polytunnel and a few packs of seeds.

Initially the products were made in the kitchen and sold in the shop in the front lounge of the house. They included everything herb-related - craft items, cards, toiletries, etc. Today, 13 years later St. Kitts Herbery offers toiletries, skincare and perfumes in eight different scents. On their website you can also find essential, fragrance and base oils, and of course their food hall which includes herb chocolates, jams and dried herbs and mixes all locally sourced and produced and very reasonably priced.

For the two weeks I have been trying the perfume and body lotion from their newest range - Summer Rose. The scent is absolutely beautiful. It combines the sweet notes of rose, cassis, bergamont and lychee with the floral aromas of cyclamen, lily of the valley, magnolia and violet, against the deep backdrop of cedarwood, musk and sandalwood. The result is intoxicating.
