Inspirational Quote: The things you are defined by

Happy Monday!

In the beginning of an exciting new week I only have one question for you: Can you remember who you were before the world told you who you should be?

What defines you? How do you define yourself? When did we allow the society to judge us based solely on appearance imposing impossible-to-reach standards? Your height, your weight, your size, your age, those are nothing but numbers. They say nothing about who you are, what you have been through or where you're headed.

Remember Walt Whitman's words: "I exist as I am, that is enough."

Have a beautiful week!

The Wardrobe: From Night to Day | Part II: Day

Is there a glamorous dress at the back of your wardrobe you wish you could wear all the time? A dress so fabulous it instantly picks up your mood and makes you feel like a queen? A dress waiting for a special occasion that rarely comes around? Why wait? Why don't you put it on today and let your inner queen shine?

Long gone are the times when there were rules in fashion. If Kirsten Stewart can pair a silver Guishem minidress with scuffed-up converse for the red carpet you can wear a party dress any time! Throw on a biker jacket on top and switch the heels for comfortable flats to dress it down, let your hair loose and take over the city.

Going from night to day? Wearing sequins for breakfast and a princess dress to the mall? I say why not!

Inspirational Quote: The Secret to Change

Happy Monday!

Change is an essential part of building a better future, a lifestyle change to be healthier, a new job to be fulfilled or even a new partner to feel loved and appreciated. No matter what your goal is, the way towards it is through change. Big or small it always requires determination, persistence and strength, but most of all it requires taking action.

Complaining doesn't lead to the change you're seeking, it won't bring you the life that you want. Looking back, holding on to the past will not change the future. You can only learn from it, let it go and move forward. To create the life you want you need to focus on reaching your goals. Change requires energy, don't waste it on the past.

Have a successful week!

Beauty Review: Essie Millionails

Essie Millionails
Promise: "Bulletproof nails. Fortified with with iron, amino acids and kevlar, each bottle contains 1 million fast acting molecules to help resist peeling and splitting for visibly stronger nails."

Price: £8.99

Review: My nails have always been brittle. They peel, split and break easily with my polish chipping off literally hours after I paint them. I've tried different base and top coats but nothing made much of a difference. About two weeks ago I went on a mission to buy a treatment that would actually keep its promises and brought Essie's Millionails home.

Sometimes in life things may not work out according to plan. Sometimes the obstacles along the way to your dreams may seem too hard to overcome. Sometimes you might need to take a detour or walk through the fire. But ...

Homemade: Apple Strudel

Whenever we get together with friends for dinner everyone prepares and brings something to the table. This way we all enjoy delicious home-cooked meals without the need for someone to spend all day in front of the stove. We talk on the phone several times to clarify the idea and distribute the tasks and then a few more just to share what has been already done. This way we're all in a good mood in the early afternoon already.

Today I am responsible for the desert. An important task! By the time it's served on the table we are usually almost gorged and we've stopped counting the calories that "offset" our diets. I decided to prepare something light, but very tasty. I chose a pastry with a lot of fruit, a little bit of sugar and plant-origin ingredients only. I cannot say it is vegan, but you'll for yourself it is very healthy.

The Wardrobe: From Night to Day | Part I: Night

Have you ever bought a cocktail dress so beautiful you wish you could wear it all the time? I don't mean a little black dress that always goes, but a fabulous, embellished number like this one from Chi Chi. Often the most beautiful, elaborate and precious pieces of clothing stay forgotten in the back of the wardrobe waiting for one special evening to be worn in all their glory.

I am not one who follows rules in fashion. Finding a way to wear my favorite clothes at any give time is my sole mission. Sequins for breakfast and a princess dress to the mall? I say why the hell not! Life's too short to wear boring clothes.

You can imagine my excitement when Kassidy (The Dress) came through the mail with its perfect cut and elaborate pearl beading. That is one it dawned on me. Everyone talks about going from day to night but I have never seen a single article about taking a night dress out in the sun. In two posts, this being the first one, I'll show you exactly how I do it. Hopefully, I will inspire you to take your Dress (with capital D) out for a spin.

6 Natural Oils to Nourish Your Hair | DIY Hair Mask

Long or short, straight or curly, blond or brunette hair needs to be brushed carefully, cleaned well and nourished with care. Using high-quality products is a must, but nothing can replace the homemade hair masks, where the ingredients are all natural and highly concentrated. I  have tried many different recipes and tend to change my routine depending on the season and the condition of my hair.

With the winter cold, monthly dye and longer length my locks have been dryer and thirstier than usual. To nourish them from the roots to the ends and take care of my scalp as well I concocted a mixture of some of my favorite natural oils, known for their beautifying properties. I use this improvised mask every week or every 10-15 days and couldn't be happier. My hair is soft, nourished, shiny and easier to handle.

1½ tbsp. Macadamia Nut Oil
1 tbsp. Coconut Oil
1 tsp. Hemp Oil
A few drops of Sweet Almond Oil

*You can change the amount, depending on the length of your hair. This is how much I use for mine.

Warm it up for the coconut oil to melt and stir well. (I put the bowl in the microwave for a few seconds.) This way the ingredients would be easier to absorb as well. Apply generously to the scalp, roots and length of the hair and wash after a few hours. You can wrap your head with a warm towel while waiting.

Do you use any homemade hair masks?

Inspirational Quote: 5 TED Talks

Happy Monday!

Listening to interesting TED Talks never fails to inspire and motivate me. When Adi from TEDxNBU's team asked me if I'd like to share my Top 5 my only concern was narrowing down. Instead of Top 5 out of all TED Talks I've watched (which is impossible to select) I've chosen the five videos I can relate to most at this certain (turning) point of my life.
