The Wardrobe | Facets of a Cut | The Straight Skirt: Romantic Nostalgia
Slowly sewing has taken over my heart. There's a certain charm about every step of the process of creating a garment. For me it starts with a fabric. It's feel and color, the way it falls and drapes is often what inspires a piece. The same cut can look absolutely different when created from a different textile.
This is the first of three skits I created using the simple pattern of a straight skirt. However, they are completely different thanks to the different materials I chose for each one.
The skirt in these pictures is the most basic one, made of a cozy, wool fabric that's reminiscent of tweed but much softer and gentler. The color invokes a sense of romantic nostalgia that warms up the heart like a precious memory.
I am wearing: Skirt: Created by me / Cardigan: Mango / Hat & Bracelet: Vintage / Tights: From a local store / Boots: From a local store / Lipstick: Max Factor Color Elixir in 833 Rosewood
