Baking festive treats is one of my favorite Christmas traditions. I love mixing the ingredients, I love decorating the sweets and most of all I love the scent that fills the room. Last evening my mom and I decided to make White Christmas Hearts & Stars. Very easy to prepare, they're very beautiful and absolutely delicious!
200 grams of soft lard
150 grams of caster sugar
400 grams of all purpose flour
Caster sugar for sprinkling
Mix everything in a big bow with an wooden spoon. When you have soft dough, after that keep kneading it on a floured surface. Make two dough balls (it is easier to work with a smaller amount).
Pin out the dough and cut out cookies with different shapes of your choice.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C until they turn slightly golden. The cookies are very fragile so let them cool down before you take them out of the pan. We used homemade cherry jam to stick some of them together for a more interesting, festive effect.
Once the cookies are completely cool put them into a deep plate or ball and sprinkle them generously with caster sugar. You're done!
