A Guide to Christmas: Scented Decorative Cushions
Creating presents for my friends and family is a very special experience. I find inspiration in everything, in the aroma of Christmas cookies and tea, in the sparkling lights in the shop windows and even in the cold air turning our breath into clouds while the waterspouts freeze into fascinating sculptures. I dedicate the weekends to realizing my ideas. It's great! I've always shared the idea that a gift I've made with my own hands carries a special emotional charge that's shared between the receiver and me.
I will share with you some of my little creations in a series of blog posts. I believe you will find interesting ideas that would give happiness to your loved ones.
Scented Decorative Cushions
I've knitted tiny cushions of different sizes from 100% natural wool, dyed and spun in the traditional way. It was not bleached or processed with any chemicals. The knit becomes slightly firm and clearly textured. The colors are pastel yet warm and deep.
The filling is made up of 100% natural wool that was not spun. The wool absorbs the scent of the essential oils and releases it slowly in small aromatic portions. Dispense 4 - 5 drops of essential oil of your choice on each tow. You could let the little wool clouds sit in a sealed glass container overnight to make sure they absorb the oil evenly.
Finally, all you have to do is pair and wrap the little scented gifts. You can use festive felt ornaments, tiny pine cones or dry branches to decorate the wrapping. Don't forget to pack the cushions in cellophane which will preserve the scent till Christmas eve. You can also add a bottle of additional essential oil. A few drops would instantly refresh the aroma once it starts fading.
