Guest post: What swimsuit to choose
Catherine Lavinia is a freelance in marketing, in love with the summer and passionate about fashion. She loves traveling and laying by the pool just as much as I do! As I won't be enjoying the pleasure of soaking up the sun this year I decided to ask her for expert advice on swimsuits to share with you. Here are Cath's thoughts ...
Nothing screams summer like a showing off a fashionable statement swimsuit by the poolside. There are number of new and diverse styles to choose from, meaning there is something to suit every girl when it comes to holiday glamour.
If you’re planning a trip to a resort club, a geometric neon swimsuit is a fantastic way to make a bold fashion statement. These colourful creations will brighten up your day, regardless of the weather.
Bold-hued bikinis complete with playful prints and cutesy ties are big this season, with many of the styles replacing the blocked-coloured trends of the past. Those with shapely curves should opt for abstract prints, whereas those with slimmer frames can create the illusion of curves with ruffles and dainty patterns.
Cartoon-like drawings and playful illustrations are big for 2013 and feature in both swimwear and a variety of other catwalk garments. A mint-coloured bikini with flirty frills and ice cream cones boasts a whimsical style that will reveal your ‘young at heart’ persona.
Bold and Beautiful
Red is a daring shade to wear, but if you can pull it off, it’ll pay off immediately! Wearing a bold red can make you feel more confident and looks just incredible! A backless, low cut swimsuit in a feisty red shade guarantees instant attention.
Tie-dye was a favourite last season and has returned on the catwalks this year. Lighter hues look great with sun-kissed skin, whilst a dreamy print will create a more hippie, bohemian style.
We all know double denim is usually associated with jeans and jackets. However, a denim bikini in a washed out shade is an alternative to the usual style and one that looks extremely retro when worn with aviators and All-Star trainers.
When running in different directions, stripes can appear edgy. A black and white bikini with neon accents looks great with a tan and even better when peeping out from under denim dungarees.
If you wish to hit the style stakes this season, then adding a few metallic, mirrored items to your wardrobe is a must. A metallic bikini in a vivid hue will glimmer in the sun, which makes it a great holiday essential for those that want to get that extra shine.
A Cut Above the Rest
If like many, you are a little self-conscious of your midriff, a cut-out swimsuit boasts the best of both worlds. It looks just as stylish as a two-piece, yet hides a little more skin. Cut-out styles are available in both strapless and halter neck variants.
