The incredible talent was born in Indiana in 1922 and discovered his passion for the arts at a very early age. In 1939 he left his hometown for New York City to study at Parsons School of Design. After his graduation Blass was drafted to serve in the army during WWII. When the war was over the designer knew that in order to pursue a life and career in fashion he had to permanently move to New York. He was soon known for having the most beautiful and impeccable tailoring in America. In his silhouettes he was combining architectural elements with high-class glamour and creating a sporty, yet sophisticated aesthetic.
In his lifetime, Blass received several prestigious awards, including the Fashion Institute's of Technology's Lifetime Achievement Award and seven Coty Awards. The designer passed away in 2002, but left an impressive legacy that continues to grow under the leadership of Peter Som and Michael Bastian.
