It's Friday and it's time for the last post concerning fashion communication. It is going to be about the medium we all use to connect to like-minded people, to share our thoughts and opinions and to know what's going on on the other side of the globe. Yes, today I am going to talk (type) about the relationship between the fashion world and the internet.
There's a demand placed on fashion to always be innovative and the internet has given the industry a new communication tool to convey its ideas and products on a global scale. There are numerous websites promoting goods and services, from superbrands like Gucci and Prada to less-known labels, department stores, botiques, nearly everybody has gone online.
Customers can easily gain product information, have a virtual experience, sign up to a mailing list or special in-store or inline offers, shop online and feel less intimidated by the guise of a designer boutique, just by visiting the brand website from the comfort of their homes. The online features personalize the fashion experience and and give the customer the feeling that he/she is part of the brand and its philosophy, which in return creates a loyal client base.
Websites like Style.com and Vogue.com have brought the exclusive fashion shows and news to the home of every fashion lover all around the world. Blogging and Twitter enhance the experience even further allowing us to share thoughts and information and stay in the loop 24/7.
The interned has not only revolutionized the fashion experience, it educated the customer and the spectator. Today anybody and everybody has the opportunity to voice their fashion opinion, to become a fashion journalist or a fashion editor, or to launch a dedicated website. News travel faster than ever and fashion is in the palm of your hand.... And this is amazing!
Have a great weekend!!!!
