Sneak Peak in my Wardrobe: Rainy Day

Rainy morning again... I keep hoping the sun will come up but the whole week is dark and rainy. Spring has it's moods I guess. This said it's not hard to guess in today's post I'll show you a rainy day outfit. When I wake up and it's dark outside I don't really feel like dressing up too much. I guess this weather really gets to me. I won't complain anymore as I know real Spring weather is just around the corner and soon it will be time for floral dresses and color blocking! I just need to wait a bit longer... And I have a little more time to actually buy floral dresses. I am planning a big shopping spree soon Back to the outfit. Here it is. My early rainy morning outfit.

My mom made this gorgeous shirt a few years ago and when I found it in my wardrobe I was excited to wear it! As it was rainy and kind of cold I decided to wear these Terranova pants. When I saw them I love them! Both the model and the color are perfect! Casual and still chick! I bought these shoes in the end of last autumn and I really didn't have enough time to wear them back then as winter started a bit after. I saw them in a store for Italian shoes and bags and I fell in love with them. I didn't even look at the price before I had to pay, that's how much I wanted them. The ladylike bag I got in Milan! It's Caprisa and it was one of those things you see but you think... I won't buy it now I might find something better... but you know you won't because it's perfect! So  gave up and got it! Lastly, I needed some color and I added the green scarf, which was a gift from a very good friend of mine. The H&M flower made me feel very girly even in this casual outfit.

Gotta run now because I'll be late for my Italian classes! Have a great day!

P.S. While I was writing this the sun came up! YEEEY!

The Great Designers: Karl Lagerfeld

There's no person interested in fashion who doesn't recognize his signature white pony-tail, fan and sunglasses. No doubt he is one of the greats in fashion. Probably the ultimate and most versatile designer of our times. Prolific and driven by change he's certainly one of the industry's most successful designers.

Designing is not his only passion. He loves photography and often shoots his own campaigns, along with editorials for numerous magazines. He has a library collection of 230 000 volumes, and his own imprint, 7L. Also his passions for perfumes, art and magazines are legendary.

From 1963-83 and 1992-97 he designed Chloè, in 1965 he also started working for Fendi, in 1983 was appointed artistic director of Chanel, and one year later his own label was born. Now you see why I admire him so much. He is a legend. He is Karl Lagerfeld.

The designer boldly reinvented the the rich legacy of house codes left by mademoiselle Coco Chanel. Her favorite pearls now appear as little evening bags; tweed is transformed into fluffy leggings and matching berets, a love for the sporty outdoors life is expressed via Chanel-branded snowboards and surfboards. The one other thing Gabrille Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld have in common is relish for the present times and for the future. As Chanel herself once said, "I am neither in the past nor avant-garde. My style follows life."

Karl's signature designs are hidden in every detail that makes instant recognition possible and his favorite pieces are always the ones from the next collection, which is also his ultimate goal. When asked to describe his own work the designer quoted Voltaire's line: Everything that needs an explanation is not worth it.

This remarkable man is inspired by everything. He says there should be only one rule: eyes wide open. When designing he has in mind several women, never and always the same, women who change with the times and are interested in what is going on - not only in fashion. The greatest influence to his career are all the events he has gone trough, the changes in the times. Lagerfeld aims to the future so much that he doesn't find it necessary to think about what makes the past what it became.

His definition of beauty is again a quote, this time by Marlow: there is no beauty without some strangeness in the proportions. If you are curious what's the life philosophy of  this successful and legendary designer, I should tell you it's really simple: Every decision (also in fashion) is a refusal (Spinoza).

When asked what's the most important lesson he has ever learned he said something we should all remember: You can only learn what not to do - there are no lessons what to do...

"I love fashion, the evolution of time, and fashion is the reflection of it." ~ Karl Lagerfeld

The Wardrobe: Retro

I decided to surprise you with an extra outfit post. I normally publish looks only on Thursday but one of my favorite bloggers and readers told me I have to do more of these and I decided to listen. I wore this some time last week. I love the way the tights match the top. And as you've already noticed red is one of my favorite colors. That morning I woke up with the idea to dress up retro and ladylike and I think it turned out pretty good.

The lovely skirt is one of my favorites and I got it from the Bulgarian label I told you about here - Capasca. You notice it's high-wasted again. I just cannot get enough of this trend it's so elegant. The red coat is from Mexx and it was a birthday gift. A friend of mine once told me I look like an accomplished journalist in it ,and every time I wear it I remember that and smile. I am not really about the rest. The red flower is handmade and as far as I remember the tights are from H&M

What do you think? Did I achieve  retro look?

Have a great day!

Inspirational Quote: Coco Chanel. Part II

Hello Monday! A new week starts today and everyone needs a little inspiration to kick it off the right way. I will share a Coco Chanel quote again. Maybe you've noticed I love her quotes and of course her work. She's an icon and a real inspiration, a strong woman that had nothing and achieved more than anyone could ever imagine! She believed in her dreams and followed her instincts and lets be honest... made a true revolution in fashion! So taking all of this into consideration it's good to "listen" to her wisdom ... at least from time to time.

" There is no time for cut-and-dried monotony. There is time for work. And time for love. That leaves no other time."   ~ CoCo Chanel

Find a work you love to do, that drives you forward, that inspires you to be a better you every single day and do it the best way possible. Make yourself and the people you love proud! Appreciate and love the people that make you happy! Love them with all your heart and let them know how you feel. Because in the end of the day, after a job well done, who do you go home to?

Go out and find a job you love, then find people who love you for who you are, and you will have it all. It is possible. And you can achieve it, so better smile and start today!

Have a great and successful week!

Shoot of the week: Hanne Gaby Odiele by Tesh

It's a Sunday evening and I know I normally post the shoot of the week earlier but it's been a long day! So I can't wait to go to bed with Elle's new issue and this is going to be a quick one... Sorry! I will make up to you during the week I promise!

There's not much to say about the editorial I chose. It's just so gorgeous I don't need to explain why I picked this one... The beautiful Hanne Gaby Odiele takes some time to relax and Tesh makes some pictures... Well it didn't happen this way I guess but the model look so natural and relaxed it gives you that feeling. The flowers in her wild curly hair are just the cherry on top... Not gonna say a word more. Just enjoy!

This Sunday I am not going to post links to other editorials. Instead I will give you the link to my facebook page where you can follow me if you like. There are post anything and everything related to fashion I find beautiful and interesting - pictures, whole editorials, quotes, articles... well you can imagine. Fashion Communication: Fashion Magazines

Last Friday I started a series of posts concerning fashion communication as it is a big and very important part of the industry. In the end of every month I get really, really excited and I am sure all fashion lovers like me would understand why... it's the time when all the fashion magazines release their new issues. I love it! The smell of a new magazine, the glossy cover... There's nothing better than a Sunday morning with a cup of coffee, Breakfast at Tiffany's and the latest issue of my favorite mag! Don't you agree?

Magazines are an integral part of the fashion industry, helping to publicize trends, sell beauty and fashion products, and promote designers and labels. It is the one part of the industry where the designer has little to say - the editor is the one who rules! Impressing the right editors and having a good coverage may mean an overnight success and bring recognition to unknown designers. Sound amazing, right?! But this works the other way around as well - the lаck of coverage normally leads to a premature downfall. It happens if a collection fails to impress. In short, the success of a collection is dependent on the magazine coverage. In a way the editors of the fashion magazines rule the industry.
You all know which the torchbearers are. While some magazines have come and go Vogue (a.k.a. the Bible of fashion) and Harper's Bazaar have remained in prominence no matter what. Vogue started business in 1892 (unbelievable isn't it?) and it remained in the forefront of fashion press ever since. Every person, no matter is he or isn't he interested in fashion has heard this respected name.

Later on, in the 1980's and 90's were launched British magazines such as Dazed and Confused, The Face, i-D. Their target audience was the people that are concerned with street style and popular culture. These magazines have an urban, underground and gritty quality and took a distinct style of fashion journalism. Offering a hybrid of music, film, dance, politics, and fashion, they provide a raw footage in contrast to the glossy spreads of mainstream titles.

In recent years appeared a third type of magazines as well. Fashion weeklies, such as Grazia, provide the public with glossy fashion coverage and hot celebrity gossip, plus the loved concept of how-to-get-a-designer-look-for-less. Clearly a recipe to success. These comparably cheap and intellectually accessible magazines have become really popular. And we all love it! Even you! Admit it... It's a guilty pleasure.

The magazines industry is highly competitive as they depend on commercial advertising revenue to exist. With the downfall of the global economy in the late 2000s these revenues have decreased significantly and magazines find it really hard to survive and stay in business. Moreover, the success of online magazines and websites have has provided a stiff competition and has challenged the existence of the fashion magazine as we know it.

I cannot imagine the fashion industry without my beloved magazines. I know it is way faster and cheaper to publish or read something on the internet but a magazine has a whole different meaning and significance. How would I start my Sunday mornings?! Nothing can replace the thrill of opening the latest issue

How do you feel about it? Do you think websites are better? Can you imagine a fashion world with now fashion magazines?

Here are the websites of my favorite magazines. Enjoy!

Gia - This is a new Bulgarian online fashion magazine. Both the spreads and the articles are absolutely amazing! Hope you like it! Let me know.

The post next week will be about the exciting to all of us fashion shows! So don't miss it!

Have a great weekend!

The Wardrobe: Casual Chick

You know what time it is. Another Sneak Peak in my Wardrobe. I decided to show you something more casual today because so far you've seen mostly my dressy side. This is what I wore last week when I went to the cinema to see "Love and other drugs." You simply have to see that movie. It makes you look at life differently and appreciate all you've got.

Back to us. I'm wearing my very favorite high-wasted Capasca pants. Capasca is a Bulgarian brand I love so much because it's artistic and it fits my style perfectly. And maybe you've noticed that I love high waste. I think it look so stylish and elegant I cannot get enough of such clothes. The scarf is H&M, so as the vest. It's not a really warm vest though.... it just looks very nice. And my purse is 5th Avenue and it's so great how many things I can carry with it. Everything I can possibly need during a long day! Aren't big handbags just great?!

Sorry there aren't as many pictures as usual but we were almost late for the movie and didn't really have time. I hope you like it, anyways.

Stay tuned for tomorrow's post about fashion magazines.

The Great Designers: Dolce & Gabbana

These two Italians are the fashion answer to Viagra: the full throbbing force of Italian style. They met for the first time in Sicily and this is what provided a reference for their aesthetic signatures ever since: the traditional Sicilian girl (opaque black stockings, black lace, peasant skirts, shawl fringing), the Latin sex temptress (corsetry, high heels, underwear as outwear), and the Sicilian gangster (pinstripe suits, slick tailoring, fedoras). Yes, this is what makes Dolce & Gabbana so different and exciting. Their ability to create something breathtakingly beautiful by combining these complete opposites - masculine/feminine, soft/hard, and innocence/corruption.

That is where their continuous inspiration comes from - the contrasts, opposites that attract each other like magnets, the music and the cinema, especially the black and white movies. These two genius designers are inspired by anything and everything - by the everyday life, by the world and by the people around them, by the Mediterranean and Sicily.

When designing they  have in mind many different things that led them to achieve a specific outfit. To these two artists the sketch is the end of an elaborate process because it is the result of many conversations, thoughts, notes and experiences they  have put together.

To both of them fashion is a way to express their creativity, to experiment, to reflect their personal feelings. Dolce & Gabbana believe that they have the most beautiful job in the world and they love it. It is who they are, their passion and their life. For them designing clothes is a continuous challenge and their ultimate goal when it comes to work is to create a signature style that will be remembered and will remain throughout the years.

Their muse is Madonna because of her strong personality. This said it doesn't come as a surprise that their philosophy in life is to always be themselves and to be consistent, not to betray their personality or loose their identity.

"  We are both creative, both in a different way. We complete each other."     ~ Dolce & Gabbana

Chanel Coco Madamoiselle! Keira Knightley. Joss Stone.

Did you see it yet?! It is so gorgeous! Keira is the perfect choice for this video. She has that type of elegance and classic beauty that makes me catch my breath. The actress looks absolutely stunning in the video for Chanel Coco Madamoiselle! There's not really much to say the advert says it all! So enjoy!

I know I already shared this quote but I just have to do it again.

" A women who doesn't wear perfume has no future."
~ Coco Chanel

Keyra definitely has a future! The ultimate Chanel girl!

P.S. I just want to draw your attention to the music choice. The song is a classic and Joss Stone has an amazing soft voice that I cannot stop listening to. Ok... Enough! I guess you get the point! I really, really love this video!

Inspirational Quote: Eleanor Roosevelt

It's Monday. But today is not just the beginning of a new week! It's officially the beginning of Spring! My favorite season! We should all wake up just like the nature does! Spring brings new hopes and dreams, new born happiness, and of course a new wardrobe! I thought this is the perfect time to share with you the quote that really woke me up and reminded me that as long as really believe in my self and fight for what I want there's nothing impossible!

You can be what you want to be as long as you act like that person! Believe in your self and in your dreams because you're much more capable than you give yourself credit for! The future is yours you just have to reach and grab it. Don't let people tell you dreams come true only in the fairy tales! It's up to you to complete your dreams! Never forget it!
I'm leaving you with a song I really love that inspires me every time I hear it!
Enjoy the first days of Spring! Have a great week and never forget your dreams!!!

Shoot of the week: Amanda Seyfried by Alexei Hay

It's time for another gorgeous shoot! The absolutely beautiful Amanda Seyfried captured by Alexei Hay. She looks so angelically innocent that the images leave me speechless. The cute animals around her give the pictures even more romantic appeal. The actress wears dresses by Valentino, Dolce and Gabbana, and Fendi. I won't say a word more. I'm leaving you with you with the perfection of this editorial.

Isn't she stunning? Her face is breathtaking! And isn't there something so hot about her innocent look! This is probably one of the most beautiful shoots I've seen lately!

Here are the links to the rest of the shoots I loved this week. Some of them are happy and summery, others are smoldering and hot, and some are pure art...
